What a pressure cleaner service actually involves
Pressure cleaners cop a hammering. Pumps, hoses, fittings, engines, motors, all working under high pressure for hours at a time. Most jobs that come in are one of these:
Pump service & repair
The pump is the heart of the unit. We strip it, check for wear, replace what needs replacing, and pressure test before it leaves the bench.
Loss of pressure
If your cleaner is pulsing, surging, or just not building pressure like it used to, we'll find the cause and sort it.
Leaks & drips
Water leaking from the pump, the gun, the hose connections, or the lance. Usually a worn seal or fitting. Quick fix once we've got it on the bench.
Routine servicing
Pressure cleaners need regular maintenance to keep running properly. Most people skip it. We'll bring yours back up to spec.
Hose, lance & gun repair
The bits you handle take the most punishment. Leaking guns, damaged lances, split hoses. Genuine replacements where needed.
Engine & motor service
Petrol engine won't start? Electric motor cutting out? We service the engine end, not just the pump.
A note for Ardross pressure cleaner owners
Ardross is a mix of established residential, beachfront blocks, and trades running out of home workshops. Plenty of cleaners and detailers along the coast, plus the usual run of homeowners with their once-a-month patio blast.
Salt air is the recurring issue down here. The brass fittings on most pressure cleaners corrode from the outside in if you don't rinse the unit with fresh water after a coastal job. We see Ardross pumps with seized swivel fittings and locked-up trigger guns more than anywhere else in the south.
Brands we service
Karcher · Gerni · Stihl · Bar · Honda · Generac · Bosch · Ryobi · AR Blue Clean
If it's a pressure cleaner and it's broken, we can have a look. Petrol or electric, residential or commercial, doesn't matter where you bought it.
Aftermarket attachments and the pump's load
Surface cleaners, foam cannons, extension wands, and turbo nozzles all change the load on your pump. Wrong attachment = damaged pump.
Pressure cleaner accessories are big business. Surface cleaners for driveways, foam cannons for car washing, extension wands for high places, turbo nozzles for tough jobs. Each one is rated for a specific pressure and flow range. Use one outside its design range and you damage either the attachment or the pump.
The two key numbers on every accessory:
- Maximum pressure (PSI or bar). Don't exceed this. The accessory won't survive.
- Required flow rate (litres per minute or gallons per minute). If your cleaner doesn't deliver this, the accessory won't work properly.
Common compatibility problems:
- Surface cleaner too big for the unit. A 16-inch surface cleaner needs more flow than most domestic units can provide. Result: poor cleaning and excess pressure backed up into the gun and pump.
- Foam cannon nozzle too restrictive. If the foam cannon's spray nozzle is too small for your pump, the pump runs at higher pressure than designed, stressing the unloader.
- Extension wand too long. Adds weight, leverage, and can stress the gun connection. Long wands with heavy nozzles damage trigger guns over time.
- Turbo nozzle on a low-pressure unit. Doesn't develop the spinning action and you lose the cleaning advantage.
How to choose accessories that match your unit:
- Know your unit's specs. PSI rating and flow rate. Both are usually on the spec plate.
- Check the accessory's specs. Maximum PSI (must be at or above your unit's output) and required flow rate (must be at or below your unit's output).
- Match brand where possible. Manufacturer accessories are tested with their units. Less risk of mismatch.
- Avoid no-name accessories. Specs are often optimistic or wrong. Real performance might be very different.
- Read reviews from people with similar units. A surface cleaner that works great with a 3,000 PSI commercial unit might be useless on a 1,800 PSI domestic.
If you're using an accessory and the unit feels like it's labouring or running hot, stop using that accessory. Something's not matching. Continue and you damage the pump.
One thing to know: pumps that run at higher than rated pressure for extended periods fail catastrophically. The unloader valve protects against this normally, but if the wrong accessory is fooling the unloader, the protection isn't there.

Common questions
Do you pick up from Ardross?
Yep. Pickup and delivery available across Ardross. We've been running services through this part of Perth for years.
How much does a pressure cleaner repair cost?
Depends on what's wrong and what brand you've got. Once we've stripped it on the bench, we ring you with a fixed price before doing any work. No hourly charging, no surprises.
My pressure cleaner won't build pressure. Worth fixing?
Almost always yes. Most "no pressure" jobs are unloader valves, worn pump seals, or blocked nozzles. None of those are expensive fixes on a decent unit. We'll have a look and tell you straight if it's not worth it.
How often should I service my pressure cleaner?
Annual oil change at minimum on the pump end. Tradies running them daily should service the pump every 6 months. Most homeowners never service theirs, which is why pumps fail at 5 years instead of 15.
Do you service electric pressure cleaners and commercial units?
Both. Karcher K-series and Bosch electrics, all the way up to Gerni and Stihl commercial petrol units. The pump end is similar across most of them, just different sizes and pressures.
How long does a repair take?
Usually back to you within a week. If parts have to come in (some of the European brands), we'll let you know.

Easiest is the online booking on this page. Pick a slot, leave your address, done. Or ring us on (08) 9444 1284.
