What a pressure cleaner service actually involves

Pressure cleaners cop a hammering. Pumps, hoses, fittings, engines, motors, all working under high pressure for hours at a time. Most jobs that come in are one of these:

Pump service & repair

The pump is the heart of the unit. We strip it, check for wear, replace what needs replacing, and pressure test before it leaves the bench.

Loss of pressure

If your cleaner is pulsing, surging, or just not building pressure like it used to, we'll find the cause and sort it.

Leaks & drips

Water leaking from the pump, the gun, the hose connections, or the lance. Usually a worn seal or fitting. Quick fix once we've got it on the bench.

Routine servicing

Pressure cleaners need regular maintenance to keep running properly. Most people skip it. We'll bring yours back up to spec.

Hose, lance & gun repair

The bits you handle take the most punishment. Leaking guns, damaged lances, split hoses. Genuine replacements where needed.

Engine & motor service

Petrol engine won't start? Electric motor cutting out? We service the engine end, not just the pump.

A note for Attadale pressure cleaner owners

Attadale is a mix of established residential, beachfront blocks, and trades running out of home workshops. Plenty of cleaners and detailers along the coast, plus the usual run of homeowners with their once-a-month patio blast.

Salt air is the recurring issue down here. The brass fittings on most pressure cleaners corrode from the outside in if you don't rinse the unit with fresh water after a coastal job. We see Attadale pumps with seized swivel fittings and locked-up trigger guns more than anywhere else in the south.

Brands we service

Karcher · Gerni · Stihl · Bar · Honda · Generac · Bosch · Ryobi · AR Blue Clean

If it's a pressure cleaner and it's broken, we can have a look. Petrol or electric, residential or commercial, doesn't matter where you bought it.

Register your warranty before the receipt fades

Most pressure cleaners come with 1 to 3 year warranties. Most owners never register and many lose their receipt within months. Five minutes of paperwork covers you for years.

Pressure cleaner warranties typically cover manufacturing defects but not consumables (seals, hoses, nozzles wear with use), wear-and-tear damage, or operator-caused damage. Within those limits, warranties are worth claiming if anything fails early.

To make a warranty claim work, you usually need:

  • Proof of purchase. Receipt, invoice, or registered warranty record.
  • Date of purchase. Determines warranty period eligibility.
  • Model and serial number of the unit. Identifies what you've got.
  • Description of the fault. What's wrong, when it started.
  • Sometimes evidence of maintenance. Some warranties require proof of regular maintenance to honour the claim.

Registration steps the day you buy the unit:

  1. Take a photo of the receipt. Thermal receipts fade. Photos don't. Email it to yourself for backup.
  2. Take a photo of the spec plate on the unit. Captures model and serial number forever.
  3. Register on the manufacturer's website if they offer it. Karcher, Stihl, Husqvarna and others have online warranty registration. Takes 5 minutes.
  4. Save the user manual digitally. Most are downloadable PDFs from the manufacturer site. Keeps the manual accessible even if the paper version gets lost.
  5. Note the warranty expiry date in your phone calendar. Set a reminder for a month before expiry to do a final check of the unit while it's still under warranty.

One thing many people miss: if you're using a unit commercially, the warranty period and conditions are often different (and shorter) than for residential use. Check the fine print. Some units have separate residential and commercial warranty terms.

What warranties typically don't cover:

  • Damage from improper use (wrong fuel, hot water in cold-water units).
  • Damage from missed maintenance.
  • Wear items (seals, O-rings, nozzles, hoses after a certain period).
  • Damage during transport.
  • Damage from accident or impact.

Warranties aren't gold mines. But on a 1,500 dollar unit that develops a pump fault at 11 months, a successful warranty claim might save you 600 dollars in repair costs. Worth the 5 minutes of registration up-front.

Common questions

Do you pick up from Attadale?

Yep. Pickup and delivery available across Attadale. We've been running services through this part of Perth for years.

How much does a pressure cleaner repair cost?

Depends on what's wrong and what brand you've got. Once we've stripped it on the bench, we ring you with a fixed price before doing any work. No hourly charging, no surprises.

My pressure cleaner won't build pressure. Worth fixing?

Almost always yes. Most "no pressure" jobs are unloader valves, worn pump seals, or blocked nozzles. None of those are expensive fixes on a decent unit. We'll have a look and tell you straight if it's not worth it.

How often should I service my pressure cleaner?

Annual oil change at minimum on the pump end. Tradies running them daily should service the pump every 6 months. Most homeowners never service theirs, which is why pumps fail at 5 years instead of 15.

Do you service electric pressure cleaners and commercial units?

Both. Karcher K-series and Bosch electrics, all the way up to Gerni and Stihl commercial petrol units. The pump end is similar across most of them, just different sizes and pressures.

How long does a repair take?

Usually back to you within a week. If parts have to come in (some of the European brands), we'll let you know.
