What a pressure cleaner service actually involves
Pressure cleaners cop a hammering. Pumps, hoses, fittings, engines, motors, all working under high pressure for hours at a time. Most jobs that come in are one of these:
Pump service & repair
The pump is the heart of the unit. We strip it, check for wear, replace what needs replacing, and pressure test before it leaves the bench.
Loss of pressure
If your cleaner is pulsing, surging, or just not building pressure like it used to, we'll find the cause and sort it.
Leaks & drips
Water leaking from the pump, the gun, the hose connections, or the lance. Usually a worn seal or fitting. Quick fix once we've got it on the bench.
Routine servicing
Pressure cleaners need regular maintenance to keep running properly. Most people skip it. We'll bring yours back up to spec.
Hose, lance & gun repair
The bits you handle take the most punishment. Leaking guns, damaged lances, split hoses. Genuine replacements where needed.
Engine & motor service
Petrol engine won't start? Electric motor cutting out? We service the engine end, not just the pump.
A note for Bertram pressure cleaner owners
Bertram is a mix of established residential, beachfront blocks, and trades running out of home workshops. Plenty of cleaners and detailers along the coast, plus the usual run of homeowners with their once-a-month patio blast.
Salt air is the recurring issue down here. The brass fittings on most pressure cleaners corrode from the outside in if you don't rinse the unit with fresh water after a coastal job. We see Bertram pumps with seized swivel fittings and locked-up trigger guns more than anywhere else in the south.
Brands we service
Karcher · Gerni · Stihl · Bar · Honda · Generac · Bosch · Ryobi · AR Blue Clean
If it's a pressure cleaner and it's broken, we can have a look. Petrol or electric, residential or commercial, doesn't matter where you bought it.
Drain the pump after every single use
Not just at end of season. Every job. Two minutes that adds years to the life of your pump.
Water sitting inside a pump after a job does more damage than the actual job did. Mineral content in Perth water deposits inside the pump as the water evaporates. Each job leaves a tiny layer. Over 50 or 100 jobs, that buildup becomes thick enough to score the pump internals or jam moving parts.
Worse, water trapped in cold weather expands when it freezes. Perth doesn't freeze often but it gets close enough on the coldest mornings to crack pump heads on units stored in unheated sheds.
The fix takes about two minutes:
- Turn off the water supply at the tap.
- Disconnect the inlet hose from the cleaner.
- Pull the trigger on the gun and run the engine or motor for 10 to 15 seconds. This pushes the water out of the pump. You'll hear it change tone as the pump runs dry.
- Stop the engine, release the trigger, you're done.
Important note: don't run the pump dry for more than 15 to 20 seconds. Pumps need water for cooling and lubrication. A short burst clears the trapped water without damage. A long burst can cook the seals.
Some operators take this further and run a small amount of pump-saver fluid through the system before storage. This is a glycol-based solution that displaces water and protects internals. About 15 to 20 dollars a bottle, lasts for years. Cheap insurance if your unit gets used heavily.
The two-minute drain after every job is the single biggest thing you can do to make your pump last. Most people do it before winter and that's it. Doing it after every job is what separates a 5-year pump from a 15-year pump.

Common questions
Do you pick up from Bertram?
Yep. Pickup and delivery available across Bertram. We've been running services through this part of Perth for years.
How much does a pressure cleaner repair cost?
Depends on what's wrong and what brand you've got. Once we've stripped it on the bench, we ring you with a fixed price before doing any work. No hourly charging, no surprises.
My pressure cleaner won't build pressure. Worth fixing?
Almost always yes. Most "no pressure" jobs are unloader valves, worn pump seals, or blocked nozzles. None of those are expensive fixes on a decent unit. We'll have a look and tell you straight if it's not worth it.
How often should I service my pressure cleaner?
Annual oil change at minimum on the pump end. Tradies running them daily should service the pump every 6 months. Most homeowners never service theirs, which is why pumps fail at 5 years instead of 15.
Do you service electric pressure cleaners and commercial units?
Both. Karcher K-series and Bosch electrics, all the way up to Gerni and Stihl commercial petrol units. The pump end is similar across most of them, just different sizes and pressures.
How long does a repair take?
Usually back to you within a week. If parts have to come in (some of the European brands), we'll let you know.
How do I book?
Easiest is the online booking on this page. Pick a slot, leave your address, done. Or ring us on (08) 9444 1284.
We also service pressure cleaners in nearby suburbs: Rockingham · Safety Bay · Waikiki · Port Kennedy · Shoalwater
