What a pressure cleaner service actually involves

Pressure cleaners cop a hammering. Pumps, hoses, fittings, engines, motors, all working under high pressure for hours at a time. Most jobs that come in are one of these:

Pump service & repair

The pump is the heart of the unit. We strip it, check for wear, replace what needs replacing, and pressure test before it leaves the bench.

Loss of pressure

If your cleaner is pulsing, surging, or just not building pressure like it used to, we'll find the cause and sort it.

Leaks & drips

Water leaking from the pump, the gun, the hose connections, or the lance. Usually a worn seal or fitting. Quick fix once we've got it on the bench.

Routine servicing

Pressure cleaners need regular maintenance to keep running properly. Most people skip it. We'll bring yours back up to spec.

Hose, lance & gun repair

The bits you handle take the most punishment. Leaking guns, damaged lances, split hoses. Genuine replacements where needed.

Engine & motor service

Petrol engine won't start? Electric motor cutting out? We service the engine end, not just the pump.

A note for Bicton pressure cleaner owners

Bicton is a mix of established residential, beachfront blocks, and trades running out of home workshops. Plenty of cleaners and detailers along the coast, plus the usual run of homeowners with their once-a-month patio blast.

Salt air is the recurring issue down here. The brass fittings on most pressure cleaners corrode from the outside in if you don't rinse the unit with fresh water after a coastal job. We see Bicton pumps with seized swivel fittings and locked-up trigger guns more than anywhere else in the south.

Brands we service

Karcher · Gerni · Stihl · Bar · Honda · Generac · Bosch · Ryobi · AR Blue Clean

If it's a pressure cleaner and it's broken, we can have a look. Petrol or electric, residential or commercial, doesn't matter where you bought it.

Label everything, write everything down

Operators who maintain a basic written record of their pressure cleaner get more years out of it than those who don't. Sounds boring. Genuinely matters.

Most pressure cleaner failures we see could have been predicted by someone paying attention to gradual changes over time. A pump that's losing 5% pressure per month, a hose that's slightly bulged, a fitting that drips a little more after each job. Each individual observation seems trivial. The pattern, when written down, tells a story.

What to write down:

  • Date of every use. And rough duration.
  • Anything unusual you noticed. "Pressure seemed a bit lower today." "New rattle from the engine." "Drip at the gun connection."
  • Maintenance done. Date and what you did. "10 May 2026: cleaned air filter, checked oil."
  • Parts replaced. Date, part, brand, where you bought it, cost.
  • Workshop visits. Date, what was done, what was billed, who did it.

This doesn't need to be a fancy system. A small notebook in the shed near the unit, or a Google Doc on your phone, works fine. Even a piece of paper taped inside the storage cover.

Why this matters:

  1. Pattern recognition. "I notice the pressure has been getting lower over the last 3 months" is something you can act on. Without records, the change happens and you don't notice until it's bad.
  2. Service intervals. Know when you last serviced what. Stops you doing things twice or skipping things entirely.
  3. Warranty claims. Documented maintenance history makes warranty claims easier.
  4. Resale value. A unit with a logbook sells for more than one without.
  5. Parts ordering. When you need a new part, you can look up exactly which one you bought last time.

One specific thing worth labelling: write the model number and serial number on a piece of tape stuck somewhere protected on the unit. The factory sticker fades, gets damaged, sometimes falls off entirely. Having a backup label saves you 20 minutes of searching when you need to order parts five years from now.

Tradies do this naturally because their gear earns money. Home users skip it because it feels like overkill. It isn't. Five minutes of writing per month, multiplied by years of use, makes a real difference.

Common questions

Do you pick up from Bicton?

Yep. Pickup and delivery available across Bicton. We've been running services through this part of Perth for years.

How much does a pressure cleaner repair cost?

Depends on what's wrong and what brand you've got. Once we've stripped it on the bench, we ring you with a fixed price before doing any work. No hourly charging, no surprises.

My pressure cleaner won't build pressure. Worth fixing?

Almost always yes. Most "no pressure" jobs are unloader valves, worn pump seals, or blocked nozzles. None of those are expensive fixes on a decent unit. We'll have a look and tell you straight if it's not worth it.

How often should I service my pressure cleaner?

Annual oil change at minimum on the pump end. Tradies running them daily should service the pump every 6 months. Most homeowners never service theirs, which is why pumps fail at 5 years instead of 15.

Do you service electric pressure cleaners and commercial units?

Both. Karcher K-series and Bosch electrics, all the way up to Gerni and Stihl commercial petrol units. The pump end is similar across most of them, just different sizes and pressures.

How long does a repair take?

Usually back to you within a week. If parts have to come in (some of the European brands), we'll let you know.
