What a pressure cleaner service actually involves

Pressure cleaners cop a hammering. Pumps, hoses, fittings, engines, motors, all working under high pressure for hours at a time. Most jobs that come in are one of these:

Pump service & repair

The pump is the heart of the unit. We strip it, check for wear, replace what needs replacing, and pressure test before it leaves the bench.

Loss of pressure

If your cleaner is pulsing, surging, or just not building pressure like it used to, we'll find the cause and sort it.

Leaks & drips

Water leaking from the pump, the gun, the hose connections, or the lance. Usually a worn seal or fitting. Quick fix once we've got it on the bench.

Routine servicing

Pressure cleaners need regular maintenance to keep running properly. Most people skip it. We'll bring yours back up to spec.

Hose, lance & gun repair

The bits you handle take the most punishment. Leaking guns, damaged lances, split hoses. Genuine replacements where needed.

Engine & motor service

Petrol engine won't start? Electric motor cutting out? We service the engine end, not just the pump.

A note for Brentwood pressure cleaner owners

Brentwood is a mix of established residential, beachfront blocks, and trades running out of home workshops. Plenty of cleaners and detailers along the coast, plus the usual run of homeowners with their once-a-month patio blast.

Salt air is the recurring issue down here. The brass fittings on most pressure cleaners corrode from the outside in if you don't rinse the unit with fresh water after a coastal job. We see Brentwood pumps with seized swivel fittings and locked-up trigger guns more than anywhere else in the south.

Brands we service

Karcher · Gerni · Stihl · Bar · Honda · Generac · Bosch · Ryobi · AR Blue Clean

If it's a pressure cleaner and it's broken, we can have a look. Petrol or electric, residential or commercial, doesn't matter where you bought it.

Frost protection on Perth's coldest mornings

Perth doesn't get hard freezes often, but it gets cold enough most winters to crack pump heads on units with water trapped inside. The fix is simple but most people don't bother.

Water expands when it freezes. Pump heads on pressure cleaners are made of brass, aluminium, or sometimes plastic. None of them stretch enough to handle the expansion of trapped water freezing inside. Result: cracked pump heads.

Perth's overnight lows in winter regularly hit 3 to 5 degrees in the metro area, lower in the hills (Mundaring, Kalamunda) and the south (Pinjarra, Mandurah). Tin sheds without insulation track outside temperatures closely. A unit stored in an unheated shed can have water inside reach freezing point on the coldest nights.

Protection options:

  1. Drain the pump after every use. The two-minute drain procedure (covered in another tip) removes most of the water inside. What's left isn't enough to crack the pump.
  2. Pump-saver fluid. Glycol-based pump saver displaces water and prevents freezing. About 20 dollars a bottle, lasts seasons. Run a small amount through the pump after the final clean job of autumn.
  3. Indoor storage during winter. Move the unit inside the house, garage, or any insulated space for the coldest months.
  4. Insulated cover for outdoor storage. If the unit must stay outside, an insulated equipment cover provides some buffer against overnight cold.

What to do if you suspect a frozen pump:

  • Don't try to start it cold. Force-running a pump with frozen water inside guarantees damage.
  • Move it to a warm space. Garage with a space heater, indoors, or wherever you can warm it gradually.
  • Wait for it to thaw fully. Could be hours depending on size and how cold it was.
  • Inspect for cracks before starting. Look at the pump head carefully. Any visible cracks mean the pump is damaged.
  • Run a low-pressure test before full use. Connect water, start the engine, run at low pressure briefly. Look for leaks.

Cracked pump heads usually require pump replacement (200 to 600 dollars) or sometimes a partial rebuild if only one component is damaged. Always more expensive than the 5 minutes of drain procedure that would have prevented it.

Hills users especially should take freeze protection seriously. Mundaring and Kalamunda see colder overnight temperatures than the coastal suburbs, and units stored in sheds at altitude get colder still.

Common questions

Do you pick up from Brentwood?

Yep. Pickup and delivery available across Brentwood. We've been running services through this part of Perth for years.

How much does a pressure cleaner repair cost?

Depends on what's wrong and what brand you've got. Once we've stripped it on the bench, we ring you with a fixed price before doing any work. No hourly charging, no surprises.

My pressure cleaner won't build pressure. Worth fixing?

Almost always yes. Most "no pressure" jobs are unloader valves, worn pump seals, or blocked nozzles. None of those are expensive fixes on a decent unit. We'll have a look and tell you straight if it's not worth it.

How often should I service my pressure cleaner?

Annual oil change at minimum on the pump end. Tradies running them daily should service the pump every 6 months. Most homeowners never service theirs, which is why pumps fail at 5 years instead of 15.

Do you service electric pressure cleaners and commercial units?

Both. Karcher K-series and Bosch electrics, all the way up to Gerni and Stihl commercial petrol units. The pump end is similar across most of them, just different sizes and pressures.

How long does a repair take?

Usually back to you within a week. If parts have to come in (some of the European brands), we'll let you know.

How do I book?

Easiest is the online booking on this page. Pick a slot, leave your address, done. Or ring us on (08) 9444 1284.
