What a pressure cleaner service actually involves

Pressure cleaners cop a hammering. Pumps, hoses, fittings, engines, motors, all working under high pressure for hours at a time. Most jobs that come in are one of these:

Pump service & repair

The pump is the heart of the unit. We strip it, check for wear, replace what needs replacing, and pressure test before it leaves the bench.

Loss of pressure

If your cleaner is pulsing, surging, or just not building pressure like it used to, we'll find the cause and sort it.

Leaks & drips

Water leaking from the pump, the gun, the hose connections, or the lance. Usually a worn seal or fitting. Quick fix once we've got it on the bench.

Routine servicing

Pressure cleaners need regular maintenance to keep running properly. Most people skip it. We'll bring yours back up to spec.

Hose, lance & gun repair

The bits you handle take the most punishment. Leaking guns, damaged lances, split hoses. Genuine replacements where needed.

Engine & motor service

Petrol engine won't start? Electric motor cutting out? We service the engine end, not just the pump.

A note for Coolbellup pressure cleaner owners

Coolbellup is a mix of established residential, beachfront blocks, and trades running out of home workshops. Plenty of cleaners and detailers along the coast, plus the usual run of homeowners with their once-a-month patio blast.

Salt air is the recurring issue down here. The brass fittings on most pressure cleaners corrode from the outside in if you don't rinse the unit with fresh water after a coastal job. We see Coolbellup pumps with seized swivel fittings and locked-up trigger guns more than anywhere else in the south.

Brands we service

Karcher · Gerni · Stihl · Bar · Honda · Generac · Bosch · Ryobi · AR Blue Clean

If it's a pressure cleaner and it's broken, we can have a look. Petrol or electric, residential or commercial, doesn't matter where you bought it.

Wheels seize up because nobody thinks about them

Pressure cleaner wheels live a hard life. Sand, water, occasional impacts, weight on them when stored. Five minutes of care a year keeps them rolling.

Pressure cleaners are heavy. The wheels carry the weight every time you move the unit, and they sit under pressure when stored. Most have plain plastic bushings or simple steel axles. Neither holds up well to neglect.

Common wheel failures:

  • Bushings worn out. Plastic-on-steel without lubrication wears the plastic into an oval shape. Wheel wobbles and grinds.
  • Axle rust. Steel axles rust in the Perth coastal environment. Once rust starts, the wheel sticks to the axle and the bushing wears even faster.
  • UV cracking. Plastic wheels left in the sun get brittle and crack, especially around the hub.
  • Flat-spot from storage. Pneumatic wheels deflate over time and get flat spots from sitting in one position. Solid wheels can deform too.

Annual wheel maintenance:

  1. Pull the unit out, look at each wheel.
  2. Spin them by hand. Should turn easily, multiple revolutions when given a good push.
  3. If they're stiff, gritty, or wobbly, time for service.
  4. Pop the wheel off (usually a circlip or single bolt).
  5. Wipe the axle clean. Inspect for rust and pitting.
  6. Wipe the bushing clean. Look at it side-on, a worn bushing has an oval-shaped hole.
  7. Apply a small amount of waterproof grease to the axle.
  8. Reassemble.

If the bushing is worn out, replacements are usually 5 to 15 dollars. If the wheel itself is cracked or flat-spotted, replacement wheels are 20 to 80 dollars depending on the unit.

One more thing: don't store the unit on its wheels for months. The weight deforms the wheel material in one spot. Hang it up if you can, or rotate the position every few weeks during long-term storage.

Common questions

Do you pick up from Coolbellup?

Yep. Pickup and delivery available across Coolbellup. We've been running services through this part of Perth for years.

How much does a pressure cleaner repair cost?

Depends on what's wrong and what brand you've got. Once we've stripped it on the bench, we ring you with a fixed price before doing any work. No hourly charging, no surprises.

My pressure cleaner won't build pressure. Worth fixing?

Almost always yes. Most "no pressure" jobs are unloader valves, worn pump seals, or blocked nozzles. None of those are expensive fixes on a decent unit. We'll have a look and tell you straight if it's not worth it.

How often should I service my pressure cleaner?

Annual oil change at minimum on the pump end. Tradies running them daily should service the pump every 6 months. Most homeowners never service theirs, which is why pumps fail at 5 years instead of 15.

Do you service electric pressure cleaners and commercial units?

Both. Karcher K-series and Bosch electrics, all the way up to Gerni and Stihl commercial petrol units. The pump end is similar across most of them, just different sizes and pressures.

How long does a repair take?

Usually back to you within a week. If parts have to come in (some of the European brands), we'll let you know.

Easiest is the online booking on this page. Pick a slot, leave your address, done. Or ring us on (08) 9444 1284.
