What a pressure cleaner service actually involves
Pressure cleaners cop a hammering. Pumps, hoses, fittings, engines, motors, all working under high pressure for hours at a time. Most jobs that come in are one of these:
Pump service & repair
The pump is the heart of the unit. We strip it, check for wear, replace what needs replacing, and pressure test before it leaves the bench.
Loss of pressure
If your cleaner is pulsing, surging, or just not building pressure like it used to, we'll find the cause and sort it.
Leaks & drips
Water leaking from the pump, the gun, the hose connections, or the lance. Usually a worn seal or fitting. Quick fix once we've got it on the bench.
Routine servicing
Pressure cleaners need regular maintenance to keep running properly. Most people skip it. We'll bring yours back up to spec.
Hose, lance & gun repair
The bits you handle take the most punishment. Leaking guns, damaged lances, split hoses. Genuine replacements where needed.
Engine & motor service
Petrol engine won't start? Electric motor cutting out? We service the engine end, not just the pump.
A note for Kardinya pressure cleaner owners
Kardinya is a mix of established residential, beachfront blocks, and trades running out of home workshops. Plenty of cleaners and detailers along the coast, plus the usual run of homeowners with their once-a-month patio blast.
Salt air is the recurring issue down here. The brass fittings on most pressure cleaners corrode from the outside in if you don't rinse the unit with fresh water after a coastal job. We see Kardinya pumps with seized swivel fittings and locked-up trigger guns more than anywhere else in the south.
Brands we service
Karcher · Gerni · Stihl · Bar · Honda · Generac · Bosch · Ryobi · AR Blue Clean
If it's a pressure cleaner and it's broken, we can have a look. Petrol or electric, residential or commercial, doesn't matter where you bought it.
The hose tells you about the build quality
Cheap hoses on cheap units. The hose that comes with the pressure cleaner says a lot about how the manufacturer thinks about durability across the whole unit.
Manufacturers cut corners where they can. The hose is one of the easiest places to cut corners. A flimsy hose is cheap to manufacture, doesn't show in spec sheets, and most customers don't notice until it fails.
What to look for in the hose:
- Diameter. 8mm or 10mm internal is standard. Thicker (or "Heavy duty") is better.
- Pressure rating. Should exceed the unit's maximum pressure by at least 20%. A 2,500 PSI unit should have a hose rated 3,000+ PSI.
- Reinforcement type. Single-braid steel reinforcement is minimum for serious use. Double-braid is better. Look for "double-wire-braided" in specs.
- Length. 6 to 8 metres is typical for residential units, 10 to 15 metres for commercial. Longer hoses = less moving the unit.
- Cover quality. Smooth synthetic cover that resists abrasion. Cheap hoses have soft, flexible covers that wear quickly.
- Fittings. Brass fittings on both ends. Plastic fittings = cheap unit.
- Strain relief at fittings. A spring or sleeve where the hose meets the fitting prevents kinking and extends life.
Red flags in budget unit hoses:
- Coiled tightly in the box on a small spool. Indicates flimsy hose that takes that shape.
- Plastic quick-connect fittings. Cheaper fittings than the actual unit deserves.
- Very lightweight feel. Means thin construction.
- No published pressure rating. If they don't say, it's because they don't want you to know.
One trick when comparing units in store: pick up the hose and feel it. A quality hose has weight, a cheap hose feels like a slightly stiff garden hose. The difference is obvious side-by-side.
If the unit you want has a poor hose, factor in 80 to 150 dollars for an aftermarket replacement. Sometimes it's still worth buying the unit if everything else is good. But better to buy a unit with a quality hose to begin with.
Replacement hose tip: if the supplied hose dies, upgrade rather than replacing like-for-like. A unit with a good pump and engine deserves a quality hose, even if the original was cheap. Steel-braided commercial-grade hoses transform the user experience.

Common questions
Do you pick up from Kardinya?
Yep. Pickup and delivery available across Kardinya. We've been running services through this part of Perth for years.
How much does a pressure cleaner repair cost?
Depends on what's wrong and what brand you've got. Once we've stripped it on the bench, we ring you with a fixed price before doing any work. No hourly charging, no surprises.
My pressure cleaner won't build pressure. Worth fixing?
Almost always yes. Most "no pressure" jobs are unloader valves, worn pump seals, or blocked nozzles. None of those are expensive fixes on a decent unit. We'll have a look and tell you straight if it's not worth it.
How often should I service my pressure cleaner?
Annual oil change at minimum on the pump end. Tradies running them daily should service the pump every 6 months. Most homeowners never service theirs, which is why pumps fail at 5 years instead of 15.
Do you service electric pressure cleaners and commercial units?
Both. Karcher K-series and Bosch electrics, all the way up to Gerni and Stihl commercial petrol units. The pump end is similar across most of them, just different sizes and pressures.
How long does a repair take?
Usually back to you within a week. If parts have to come in (some of the European brands), we'll let you know.
How do I book?
Easiest is the online booking on this page. Pick a slot, leave your address, done. Or ring us on (08) 9444 1284.
