What a pressure cleaner service actually involves

Pressure cleaners cop a hammering. Pumps, hoses, fittings, engines, motors, all working under high pressure for hours at a time. Most jobs that come in are one of these:

Pump service & repair

The pump is the heart of the unit. We strip it, check for wear, replace what needs replacing, and pressure test before it leaves the bench.

Loss of pressure

If your cleaner is pulsing, surging, or just not building pressure like it used to, we'll find the cause and sort it.

Leaks & drips

Water leaking from the pump, the gun, the hose connections, or the lance. Usually a worn seal or fitting. Quick fix once we've got it on the bench.

Routine servicing

Pressure cleaners need regular maintenance to keep running properly. Most people skip it. We'll bring yours back up to spec.

Hose, lance & gun repair

The bits you handle take the most punishment. Leaking guns, damaged lances, split hoses. Genuine replacements where needed.

Engine & motor service

Petrol engine won't start? Electric motor cutting out? We service the engine end, not just the pump.

A note for Munster pressure cleaner owners

Munster is a mix of established residential, beachfront blocks, and trades running out of home workshops. Plenty of cleaners and detailers along the coast, plus the usual run of homeowners with their once-a-month patio blast.

Salt air is the recurring issue down here. The brass fittings on most pressure cleaners corrode from the outside in if you don't rinse the unit with fresh water after a coastal job. We see Munster pumps with seized swivel fittings and locked-up trigger guns more than anywhere else in the south.

Brands we service

Karcher · Gerni · Stihl · Bar · Honda · Generac · Bosch · Ryobi · AR Blue Clean

If it's a pressure cleaner and it's broken, we can have a look. Petrol or electric, residential or commercial, doesn't matter where you bought it.

The swivel fitting is failing without you noticing

Where the high-pressure hose connects to your gun, there's a swivel fitting. It's one of the highest-stress parts on a pressure cleaner and most users never even look at it.

The swivel lets the gun rotate without twisting the hose. Without it, every turn of the gun would corkscrew the hose into knots within minutes. The swivel sits there spinning every time you move your wrist, taking the full pressure of the system through a small set of internal seals.

Swivel failures usually happen gradually. Tiny leaks first, then bigger leaks, then a sudden gushing failure when a seal lets go entirely.

What to watch for:

  • Damp at the connection. Any moisture at the swivel during operation is a sign the internal seals are starting to fail.
  • Gritty rotation. A new swivel rotates smoothly. A worn one feels rough or notchy when you turn the gun.
  • Drips after shutdown. A leaking swivel will drip for a while after you turn off the unit while pressure dissipates.
  • Visible corrosion. Salt, hard water, and chemicals all attack the swivel housing. Once you see green corrosion, the inside is worse than the outside.

Maintenance is mostly about prevention. After every use, wipe the swivel area dry. Once a year, put a tiny drop of waterproof grease on the rotating surface. That's it.

If yours is leaking already, swivels are usually rebuildable but it's fiddly work. New swivel fittings cost 20 to 60 dollars depending on the brand. Worth replacing before it fails completely, because a swivel that lets go mid-job sprays water everywhere and can damage other components.

One more thing: don't grip the gun by the swivel area. Gripping there puts side load on the rotating surfaces and accelerates wear. Hold the gun by the proper grip area, let the swivel do its job.

Common questions

Do you pick up from Munster?

Yep. Pickup and delivery available across Munster. We've been running services through this part of Perth for years.

How much does a pressure cleaner repair cost?

Depends on what's wrong and what brand you've got. Once we've stripped it on the bench, we ring you with a fixed price before doing any work. No hourly charging, no surprises.

My pressure cleaner won't build pressure. Worth fixing?

Almost always yes. Most "no pressure" jobs are unloader valves, worn pump seals, or blocked nozzles. None of those are expensive fixes on a decent unit. We'll have a look and tell you straight if it's not worth it.

How often should I service my pressure cleaner?

Annual oil change at minimum on the pump end. Tradies running them daily should service the pump every 6 months. Most homeowners never service theirs, which is why pumps fail at 5 years instead of 15.

Do you service electric pressure cleaners and commercial units?

Both. Karcher K-series and Bosch electrics, all the way up to Gerni and Stihl commercial petrol units. The pump end is similar across most of them, just different sizes and pressures.

How long does a repair take?

Usually back to you within a week. If parts have to come in (some of the European brands), we'll let you know.

How do I book?

Easiest is the online booking on this page. Pick a slot, leave your address, done. Or ring us on (08) 9444 1284.
