What a pressure cleaner service actually involves
Pressure cleaners cop a hammering. Pumps, hoses, fittings, engines, motors, all working under high pressure for hours at a time. Most jobs that come in are one of these:
Pump service & repair
The pump is the heart of the unit. We strip it, check for wear, replace what needs replacing, and pressure test before it leaves the bench.
Loss of pressure
If your cleaner is pulsing, surging, or just not building pressure like it used to, we'll find the cause and sort it.
Leaks & drips
Water leaking from the pump, the gun, the hose connections, or the lance. Usually a worn seal or fitting. Quick fix once we've got it on the bench.
Routine servicing
Pressure cleaners need regular maintenance to keep running properly. Most people skip it. We'll bring yours back up to spec.
Hose, lance & gun repair
The bits you handle take the most punishment. Leaking guns, damaged lances, split hoses. Genuine replacements where needed.
Engine & motor service
Petrol engine won't start? Electric motor cutting out? We service the engine end, not just the pump.
A note for Myaree pressure cleaner owners
Myaree is a mix of established residential, beachfront blocks, and trades running out of home workshops. Plenty of cleaners and detailers along the coast, plus the usual run of homeowners with their once-a-month patio blast.
Salt air is the recurring issue down here. The brass fittings on most pressure cleaners corrode from the outside in if you don't rinse the unit with fresh water after a coastal job. We see Myaree pumps with seized swivel fittings and locked-up trigger guns more than anywhere else in the south.
Brands we service
Karcher · Gerni · Stihl · Bar · Honda · Generac · Bosch · Ryobi · AR Blue Clean
If it's a pressure cleaner and it's broken, we can have a look. Petrol or electric, residential or commercial, doesn't matter where you bought it.
Tank water needs an extra filter
If you're feeding your pressure cleaner from a rainwater tank or bore, you need more filtration than the standard inlet filter provides. Otherwise sediment goes straight through and damages the pump.
The factory-fitted inlet filter on most pressure cleaners is designed for clean mains water. It catches the occasional bit of rust or grit. It is not designed to handle tank water, which often has fine sediment, occasional small organic matter, and depending on the tank, biological material.
Pump damage from tank water shows up as:
- Scored pump pistons. Sediment acts like grinding paste between piston and bore.
- Damaged inlet and outlet valves. Small particles wedge between valve and seat, preventing proper sealing.
- Premature seal wear. Sediment scratches the dynamic surface of seals.
- Clogged unloader valve. Sediment buildup in the unloader's narrow passages causes pulsing and erratic pressure.
The fix: install a pre-filter between the water source and the pressure cleaner. Cheap and effective:
- Inline garden hose filter. Sits in the hose run before the pressure cleaner. Filters down to 50 to 200 micron. Replaceable cartridge, costs 30 to 60 dollars for the housing, 10 to 20 for replacement cartridges.
- Whole-tank filter on the tank outlet. If you're plumbed in to a tank, install a sediment filter at the tank's outlet. Catches problems before they reach any of your equipment.
- Settling tank. If you're really concerned about water quality, run tank water into a settling drum first, let sediment fall to the bottom, draw clean water from the top.
For bore water specifically, you might need additional filtration. Bore water often has high iron content (which stains everything orange and oxidises seals), high mineral content (which deposits inside the pump), or both. An iron-removing filter or a softener might be needed depending on your bore.
Filter maintenance:
- Inspect the cartridge monthly. Replace when visibly dirty or when flow rate drops noticeably.
- Some cartridges are washable, others single-use. Check what you've got.
- Always run clean water through the filter for a few minutes after changing the cartridge to clear any debris.
The cost of a decent inline filter is small compared to the cost of replacing pump components ruined by sediment. Especially worth it if you're committed to using tank water for environmental or cost reasons.

Common questions
Do you pick up from Myaree?
Yep. Pickup and delivery available across Myaree. We've been running services through this part of Perth for years.
How much does a pressure cleaner repair cost?
Depends on what's wrong and what brand you've got. Once we've stripped it on the bench, we ring you with a fixed price before doing any work. No hourly charging, no surprises.
My pressure cleaner won't build pressure. Worth fixing?
Almost always yes. Most "no pressure" jobs are unloader valves, worn pump seals, or blocked nozzles. None of those are expensive fixes on a decent unit. We'll have a look and tell you straight if it's not worth it.
How often should I service my pressure cleaner?
Annual oil change at minimum on the pump end. Tradies running them daily should service the pump every 6 months. Most homeowners never service theirs, which is why pumps fail at 5 years instead of 15.
Do you service electric pressure cleaners and commercial units?
Both. Karcher K-series and Bosch electrics, all the way up to Gerni and Stihl commercial petrol units. The pump end is similar across most of them, just different sizes and pressures.
How long does a repair take?
Usually back to you within a week. If parts have to come in (some of the European brands), we'll let you know.

Easiest is the online booking on this page. Pick a slot, leave your address, done. Or ring us on (08) 9444 1284.
