What a pressure cleaner service actually involves
Pressure cleaners cop a hammering. Pumps, hoses, fittings, engines, motors, all working under high pressure for hours at a time. Most jobs that come in are one of these:
Pump service & repair
The pump is the heart of the unit. We strip it, check for wear, replace what needs replacing, and pressure test before it leaves the bench.
Loss of pressure
If your cleaner is pulsing, surging, or just not building pressure like it used to, we'll find the cause and sort it.
Leaks & drips
Water leaking from the pump, the gun, the hose connections, or the lance. Usually a worn seal or fitting. Quick fix once we've got it on the bench.
Routine servicing
Pressure cleaners need regular maintenance to keep running properly. Most people skip it. We'll bring yours back up to spec.
Hose, lance & gun repair
The bits you handle take the most punishment. Leaking guns, damaged lances, split hoses. Genuine replacements where needed.
Engine & motor service
Petrol engine won't start? Electric motor cutting out? We service the engine end, not just the pump.
A note for Naval Base pressure cleaner owners
Naval Base is a mix of established residential, beachfront blocks, and trades running out of home workshops. Plenty of cleaners and detailers along the coast, plus the usual run of homeowners with their once-a-month patio blast.
Salt air is the recurring issue down here. The brass fittings on most pressure cleaners corrode from the outside in if you don't rinse the unit with fresh water after a coastal job. We see Naval Base pumps with seized swivel fittings and locked-up trigger guns more than anywhere else in the south.
Brands we service
Karcher · Gerni · Stihl · Bar · Honda · Generac · Bosch · Ryobi · AR Blue Clean
If it's a pressure cleaner and it's broken, we can have a look. Petrol or electric, residential or commercial, doesn't matter where you bought it.
Vibration loosens screws and bolts over time
A pressure cleaner is a vibrating machine. Every bolt and screw has a small chance of working loose with each operating hour. Check them periodically or risk something falling off mid-job.
Pumps create pulsing pressure that vibrates through the entire unit. Petrol engines create their own vibration on top of that. Over hundreds of hours of use, this vibration works on every threaded fastener in the unit. Some bolts have thread-locking compound from the factory, some don't. The ones without can and will loosen.
What we see come loose most often:
- Pump head bolts. The bolts holding the pump head to the body. Loose pump head bolts cause leaks and pressure loss. Critical bolts to keep tight.
- Engine mounting bolts. Holds the engine to the chassis. Loose engine bolts cause more vibration, which loosens more bolts.
- Handle bolts. The handle frame on most cleaners is bolted on. Wobbly handles are usually loose bolts, not damaged frames.
- Wheel axle bolts. Wheels coming off mid-job is bad. Check these every couple of months.
- Cover screws. Plastic covers are held by 4 to 8 screws each. Loose ones rattle, lost ones leave gaps for water and dust.
Quarterly check (or whenever something rattles):
- Engine off, unit cool.
- Walk around the unit looking at every visible bolt and screw.
- Try each one with the appropriate tool. Should be snug. Quarter turn at most to retighten.
- If something's loose enough to wobble or backed out by visible amounts, retighten.
- For bolts that keep working loose, add a drop of blue Loctite (242) on reassembly.
Don't overtighten. Stripping threads on a soft alloy housing creates a much bigger problem than a slightly loose bolt. Snug, then a fraction more, not gorilla-tight.
Worth keeping a small bag of spare bolts and washers as well. Common sizes M5, M6, M8 in various lengths. Costs ten dollars from any auto store. When you do find one missing, you can replace it on the spot.
Five minutes a quarter, prevents a crisis. The cost is so low and the protection so high that there's no reason not to do it.

Common questions
Do you pick up from Naval Base?
Yep. Pickup and delivery available across Naval Base. We've been running services through this part of Perth for years.
How much does a pressure cleaner repair cost?
Depends on what's wrong and what brand you've got. Once we've stripped it on the bench, we ring you with a fixed price before doing any work. No hourly charging, no surprises.
My pressure cleaner won't build pressure. Worth fixing?
Almost always yes. Most "no pressure" jobs are unloader valves, worn pump seals, or blocked nozzles. None of those are expensive fixes on a decent unit. We'll have a look and tell you straight if it's not worth it.
How often should I service my pressure cleaner?
Annual oil change at minimum on the pump end. Tradies running them daily should service the pump every 6 months. Most homeowners never service theirs, which is why pumps fail at 5 years instead of 15.
Do you service electric pressure cleaners and commercial units?
Both. Karcher K-series and Bosch electrics, all the way up to Gerni and Stihl commercial petrol units. The pump end is similar across most of them, just different sizes and pressures.
How long does a repair take?
Usually back to you within a week. If parts have to come in (some of the European brands), we'll let you know.
How do I book?
Easiest is the online booking on this page. Pick a slot, leave your address, done. Or ring us on (08) 9444 1284.
