What a pressure cleaner service actually involves
Pressure cleaners cop a hammering. Pumps, hoses, fittings, engines, motors, all working under high pressure for hours at a time. Most jobs that come in are one of these:
Pump service & repair
The pump is the heart of the unit. We strip it, check for wear, replace what needs replacing, and pressure test before it leaves the bench.
Loss of pressure
If your cleaner is pulsing, surging, or just not building pressure like it used to, we'll find the cause and sort it.
Leaks & drips
Water leaking from the pump, the gun, the hose connections, or the lance. Usually a worn seal or fitting. Quick fix once we've got it on the bench.
Routine servicing
Pressure cleaners need regular maintenance to keep running properly. Most people skip it. We'll bring yours back up to spec.
Hose, lance & gun repair
The bits you handle take the most punishment. Leaking guns, damaged lances, split hoses. Genuine replacements where needed.
Engine & motor service
Petrol engine won't start? Electric motor cutting out? We service the engine end, not just the pump.
A note for North Coogee pressure cleaner owners
North Coogee is a mix of established residential, beachfront blocks, and trades running out of home workshops. Plenty of cleaners and detailers along the coast, plus the usual run of homeowners with their once-a-month patio blast.
Salt air is the recurring issue down here. The brass fittings on most pressure cleaners corrode from the outside in if you don't rinse the unit with fresh water after a coastal job. We see North Coogee pumps with seized swivel fittings and locked-up trigger guns more than anywhere else in the south.
Brands we service
Karcher · Gerni · Stihl · Bar · Honda · Generac · Bosch · Ryobi · AR Blue Clean
If it's a pressure cleaner and it's broken, we can have a look. Petrol or electric, residential or commercial, doesn't matter where you bought it.
Why your petrol cleaner won't start in October
Petrol pressure cleaners that worked fine in April but won't fire in October are almost always victims of stale fuel. The fix is in May, not October.
Modern unleaded petrol has up to 10% ethanol mixed in. Ethanol is great for combustion when fresh, terrible for stored equipment. Ethanol absorbs moisture from the air. Stored petrol with ethanol absorbs water continuously through the tank vent and any other openings. After 4 to 6 months, the fuel has separated into a gummy bottom layer and a watery top layer.
Try to start an engine on this and one of two things happens:
- Engine fires briefly on the bit of decent fuel left, then dies as it pulls in the watery layer.
- Engine doesn't fire at all because the carby jets are gummed up with the residue from the bottom layer.
Either way, you've got a job ahead of you to get it running again.
Three options for end-of-season fuel handling, in order of preference:
- Run it dry. Use the unit until the fuel runs out and the engine stalls. No fuel sitting means nothing to gum up. Put fresh fuel in next season.
- Add fuel stabiliser. Products like Sta-Bil keep fuel stable for up to 12 months. Add to a fresh tank, run for 2 minutes to get treated fuel through the carby, then store. The carby is now full of stabilised fuel.
- Drain the tank. Empty the tank entirely, run the engine to use up what's in the carby, then store. Same effect as running dry but with more work.
What NOT to do: leave a half-tank of regular pump fuel in the unit and hope for the best. That's how 90% of the spring "won't start" calls happen.
If you're already in October and it won't start, the most common fix is a carby strip and clean (workshop job, or a careful DIY job if you're handy with small engines). New fuel alone usually isn't enough to dissolve the gum that's already deposited inside the carby.
The 5 minutes spent in May to deal with fuel properly saves you a 90 minute or workshop bill in October. Worth doing.

Common questions
Do you pick up from North Coogee?
Yep. Pickup and delivery available across North Coogee. We've been running services through this part of Perth for years.
How much does a pressure cleaner repair cost?
Depends on what's wrong and what brand you've got. Once we've stripped it on the bench, we ring you with a fixed price before doing any work. No hourly charging, no surprises.
My pressure cleaner won't build pressure. Worth fixing?
Almost always yes. Most "no pressure" jobs are unloader valves, worn pump seals, or blocked nozzles. None of those are expensive fixes on a decent unit. We'll have a look and tell you straight if it's not worth it.
How often should I service my pressure cleaner?
Annual oil change at minimum on the pump end. Tradies running them daily should service the pump every 6 months. Most homeowners never service theirs, which is why pumps fail at 5 years instead of 15.
Do you service electric pressure cleaners and commercial units?
Both. Karcher K-series and Bosch electrics, all the way up to Gerni and Stihl commercial petrol units. The pump end is similar across most of them, just different sizes and pressures.
How long does a repair take?
Usually back to you within a week. If parts have to come in (some of the European brands), we'll let you know.

Easiest is the online booking on this page. Pick a slot, leave your address, done. Or ring us on (08) 9444 1284.
