What a pressure cleaner service actually involves

Pressure cleaners cop a hammering. Pumps, hoses, fittings, engines, motors, all working under high pressure for hours at a time. Most jobs that come in are one of these:

Pump service & repair

The pump is the heart of the unit. We strip it, check for wear, replace what needs replacing, and pressure test before it leaves the bench.

Loss of pressure

If your cleaner is pulsing, surging, or just not building pressure like it used to, we'll find the cause and sort it.

Leaks & drips

Water leaking from the pump, the gun, the hose connections, or the lance. Usually a worn seal or fitting. Quick fix once we've got it on the bench.

Routine servicing

Pressure cleaners need regular maintenance to keep running properly. Most people skip it. We'll bring yours back up to spec.

Hose, lance & gun repair

The bits you handle take the most punishment. Leaking guns, damaged lances, split hoses. Genuine replacements where needed.

Engine & motor service

Petrol engine won't start? Electric motor cutting out? We service the engine end, not just the pump.

A note for Parmelia pressure cleaner owners

Parmelia is a mix of established residential, beachfront blocks, and trades running out of home workshops. Plenty of cleaners and detailers along the coast, plus the usual run of homeowners with their once-a-month patio blast.

Salt air is the recurring issue down here. The brass fittings on most pressure cleaners corrode from the outside in if you don't rinse the unit with fresh water after a coastal job. We see Parmelia pumps with seized swivel fittings and locked-up trigger guns more than anywhere else in the south.

Brands we service

Karcher · Gerni · Stihl · Bar · Honda · Generac · Bosch · Ryobi · AR Blue Clean

If it's a pressure cleaner and it's broken, we can have a look. Petrol or electric, residential or commercial, doesn't matter where you bought it.

Take the pressure off before you put it away

A pressure cleaner stored with pressure still in the system stresses every seal in the unit, every minute, for as long as it sits. Easy to fix.

This one's simple but almost nobody does it. After your job, before you start packing up, you need to release the pressure that's still trapped in the high-pressure hose and gun.

Why it matters: every seal in your gun, hose, and pump connections is being squeezed by that residual pressure. Modern cleaners can hold 1,500 to 3,000 PSI in the hose for hours after shutdown. The seals are designed to handle that pressure during use, but during use the seals are also moving and being lubricated by water flow. At rest, with full pressure on them, the rubber compresses and starts to deform. Over months of this, seals lose their shape and start leaking.

The procedure takes 15 seconds:

  1. Turn off the engine or motor.
  2. Turn off the water supply at the tap.
  3. Point the gun in a safe direction (not at yourself, not at the cleaner).
  4. Squeeze the trigger. Water and pressure will release. Hold the trigger for a few seconds until nothing more comes out.
  5. Engage the safety lock on the trigger.

Now your system is depressurised. Now you can safely disconnect hoses, coil things up, and put everything away.

An added bonus: depressurising before disconnecting hoses means you don't get a face full of pressurised water when you crack the connections open. We've seen people get sprayed across the workshop because they didn't release pressure first.

Make this part of your standard pack-up routine. Engine off, water off, trigger to release, lock. Becomes habit fast and your seals last twice as long.

Common questions

Do you pick up from Parmelia?

Yep. Pickup and delivery available across Parmelia. We've been running services through this part of Perth for years.

How much does a pressure cleaner repair cost?

Depends on what's wrong and what brand you've got. Once we've stripped it on the bench, we ring you with a fixed price before doing any work. No hourly charging, no surprises.

My pressure cleaner won't build pressure. Worth fixing?

Almost always yes. Most "no pressure" jobs are unloader valves, worn pump seals, or blocked nozzles. None of those are expensive fixes on a decent unit. We'll have a look and tell you straight if it's not worth it.

How often should I service my pressure cleaner?

Annual oil change at minimum on the pump end. Tradies running them daily should service the pump every 6 months. Most homeowners never service theirs, which is why pumps fail at 5 years instead of 15.

Do you service electric pressure cleaners and commercial units?

Both. Karcher K-series and Bosch electrics, all the way up to Gerni and Stihl commercial petrol units. The pump end is similar across most of them, just different sizes and pressures.

How long does a repair take?

Usually back to you within a week. If parts have to come in (some of the European brands), we'll let you know.

How do I book?

Easiest is the online booking on this page. Pick a slot, leave your address, done. Or ring us on (08) 9444 1284.

We also service pressure cleaners in nearby suburbs: Rockingham · Safety Bay · Waikiki · Port Kennedy · Shoalwater
