What a pressure cleaner service actually involves
Pressure cleaners cop a hammering. Pumps, hoses, fittings, engines, motors, all working under high pressure for hours at a time. Most jobs that come in are one of these:
Pump service & repair
The pump is the heart of the unit. We strip it, check for wear, replace what needs replacing, and pressure test before it leaves the bench.
Loss of pressure
If your cleaner is pulsing, surging, or just not building pressure like it used to, we'll find the cause and sort it.
Leaks & drips
Water leaking from the pump, the gun, the hose connections, or the lance. Usually a worn seal or fitting. Quick fix once we've got it on the bench.
Routine servicing
Pressure cleaners need regular maintenance to keep running properly. Most people skip it. We'll bring yours back up to spec.
Hose, lance & gun repair
The bits you handle take the most punishment. Leaking guns, damaged lances, split hoses. Genuine replacements where needed.
Engine & motor service
Petrol engine won't start? Electric motor cutting out? We service the engine end, not just the pump.
A note for South Fremantle pressure cleaner owners
South Fremantle is a mix of established residential, beachfront blocks, and trades running out of home workshops. Plenty of cleaners and detailers along the coast, plus the usual run of homeowners with their once-a-month patio blast.
Salt air is the recurring issue down here. The brass fittings on most pressure cleaners corrode from the outside in if you don't rinse the unit with fresh water after a coastal job. We see South Fremantle pumps with seized swivel fittings and locked-up trigger guns more than anywhere else in the south.
Brands we service
Karcher · Gerni · Stihl · Bar · Honda · Generac · Bosch · Ryobi · AR Blue Clean
If it's a pressure cleaner and it's broken, we can have a look. Petrol or electric, residential or commercial, doesn't matter where you bought it.
Spark plugs on petrol pressure cleaners are wear items
Spark plugs aren't lifetime parts. They wear out, foul up, and stop firing reliably. Most petrol pressure cleaner owners never change theirs.
The spark plug fires thousands of times per minute when the engine runs. Each fire wears the electrode slightly. Over hundreds of hours of operation, the gap widens, the electrode rounds off, and the plug needs more voltage to fire reliably. Eventually the magneto can't deliver enough voltage and starting becomes unreliable.
For most petrol pressure cleaners, plug replacement every 100 hours of operation or every 2 years (whichever comes first) is about right.
Symptoms of a tired plug:
- Engine takes more pulls to start than it used to.
- Engine stutters or misfires under load.
- Engine hard to start when cold but fine warm.
- Engine runs rough at idle.
Common plug part numbers for pressure cleaner engines:
- Honda GX engines: NGK BPR6ES (most common)
- Briggs & Stratton: Champion RJ19LM or NGK BPR6ES
- Subaru Robin: NGK BPR6ES
Always check what your specific engine wants, but NGK BPR6ES covers a lot of small engines and is widely available for 8 to 12 dollars.
How to change:
- Engine cool, plug wire pulled off.
- Use the right size socket (usually 19mm). Pliers will damage the plug.
- Unscrew slowly. If it's tight, work it back and forth slightly rather than forcing it.
- Check the gap on the new plug with a feeler gauge. Should be about 0.7 to 0.8mm for most pressure cleaner engines. Adjust by gently bending the side electrode if needed.
- A tiny dab of anti-seize on the threads helps it come out easily next time.
- Hand-thread it in first to avoid cross-threading. Then snug with the socket. Don't over-tighten.
- Push the plug wire firmly back on. Should click into place.
The old plug tells you about the engine. Light tan colour means engine is running well. Black and sooty means running rich. White and pale means running too lean. Pay attention to what comes out, it's free diagnostic info.
Keep the old plug as a spare in the toolbox. A worn plug will still fire enough to get a job finished if your new one fails for any reason.

Common questions
Do you pick up from South Fremantle?
Yep. Pickup and delivery available across South Fremantle. We've been running services through this part of Perth for years.
How much does a pressure cleaner repair cost?
Depends on what's wrong and what brand you've got. Once we've stripped it on the bench, we ring you with a fixed price before doing any work. No hourly charging, no surprises.
My pressure cleaner won't build pressure. Worth fixing?
Almost always yes. Most "no pressure" jobs are unloader valves, worn pump seals, or blocked nozzles. None of those are expensive fixes on a decent unit. We'll have a look and tell you straight if it's not worth it.
How often should I service my pressure cleaner?
Annual oil change at minimum on the pump end. Tradies running them daily should service the pump every 6 months. Most homeowners never service theirs, which is why pumps fail at 5 years instead of 15.
Do you service electric pressure cleaners and commercial units?
Both. Karcher K-series and Bosch electrics, all the way up to Gerni and Stihl commercial petrol units. The pump end is similar across most of them, just different sizes and pressures.
How long does a repair take?
Usually back to you within a week. If parts have to come in (some of the European brands), we'll let you know.

Easiest is the online booking on this page. Pick a slot, leave your address, done. Or ring us on (08) 9444 1284.
