What a pressure cleaner service actually involves

Pressure cleaners cop a hammering. Pumps, hoses, fittings, engines, motors, all working under high pressure for hours at a time. Most jobs that come in are one of these:

Pump service & repair

The pump is the heart of the unit. We strip it, check for wear, replace what needs replacing, and pressure test before it leaves the bench.

Loss of pressure

If your cleaner is pulsing, surging, or just not building pressure like it used to, we'll find the cause and sort it.

Leaks & drips

Water leaking from the pump, the gun, the hose connections, or the lance. Usually a worn seal or fitting. Quick fix once we've got it on the bench.

Routine servicing

Pressure cleaners need regular maintenance to keep running properly. Most people skip it. We'll bring yours back up to spec.

Hose, lance & gun repair

The bits you handle take the most punishment. Leaking guns, damaged lances, split hoses. Genuine replacements where needed.

Engine & motor service

Petrol engine won't start? Electric motor cutting out? We service the engine end, not just the pump.

A note for Success pressure cleaner owners

Success is a mix of established residential, beachfront blocks, and trades running out of home workshops. Plenty of cleaners and detailers along the coast, plus the usual run of homeowners with their once-a-month patio blast.

Salt air is the recurring issue down here. The brass fittings on most pressure cleaners corrode from the outside in if you don't rinse the unit with fresh water after a coastal job. We see Success pumps with seized swivel fittings and locked-up trigger guns more than anywhere else in the south.

Brands we service

Karcher · Gerni · Stihl · Bar · Honda · Generac · Bosch · Ryobi · AR Blue Clean

If it's a pressure cleaner and it's broken, we can have a look. Petrol or electric, residential or commercial, doesn't matter where you bought it.

Using the wrong nozzle for the job wears the pump out

Pressure cleaner nozzles aren't decorative. Each one creates a different working pressure, and using the wrong one changes the load on the pump.

Most pressure cleaners come with a quick-connect nozzle set, usually colour coded. Each colour represents a fan angle:

  • Red (0 degrees). Pencil jet. Maximum pressure, smallest area. For tough stains on hard surfaces only. Damages most surfaces.
  • Yellow (15 degrees). Narrow fan. High pressure for moderate stripping work.
  • Green (25 degrees). Standard cleaning fan. The one you'll use 80% of the time.
  • White (40 degrees). Wide fan, gentler on surfaces. Good for vehicles, painted surfaces.
  • Black (low pressure). Soap/chemical application nozzle. Lower pressure for chemical injection.

Each nozzle has a specific orifice size matched to your machine's flow rate. Use the wrong one and you change the back-pressure on the pump.

Common mistakes:

  • Using a worn nozzle. Nozzles wear over time and the orifice gets bigger. A worn nozzle drops pressure and increases flow, which can confuse the unloader and cause pulsing.
  • Using a nozzle from a different machine. Different flow ratings means wrong back-pressure.
  • Cheap aftermarket nozzles. Often don't match the spec they claim. Affects pressure and pump life.
  • Trying to use the 0 degree red nozzle for general cleaning. Pump runs at maximum pressure constantly, faster wear on everything.

How to check if your nozzle is worn: with the cleaner running at full pressure, look at the spray pattern. A new green 25 degree nozzle should make a clean fan with crisp edges. A worn nozzle has a fuzzy, irregular fan and the working width is wider than it should be.

Replacement nozzle sets cost 25 to 80 dollars depending on quality. Worth replacing the set every 2 years on a regularly-used cleaner. Saves the pump and improves cleaning effectiveness.

If you're not sure which nozzle for which job, the green 25 degree is the right answer 9 times out of 10. Start there.

Common questions

Do you pick up from Success?

Yep. Pickup and delivery available across Success. We've been running services through this part of Perth for years.

How much does a pressure cleaner repair cost?

Depends on what's wrong and what brand you've got. Once we've stripped it on the bench, we ring you with a fixed price before doing any work. No hourly charging, no surprises.

My pressure cleaner won't build pressure. Worth fixing?

Almost always yes. Most "no pressure" jobs are unloader valves, worn pump seals, or blocked nozzles. None of those are expensive fixes on a decent unit. We'll have a look and tell you straight if it's not worth it.

How often should I service my pressure cleaner?

Annual oil change at minimum on the pump end. Tradies running them daily should service the pump every 6 months. Most homeowners never service theirs, which is why pumps fail at 5 years instead of 15.

Do you service electric pressure cleaners and commercial units?

Both. Karcher K-series and Bosch electrics, all the way up to Gerni and Stihl commercial petrol units. The pump end is similar across most of them, just different sizes and pressures.

How long does a repair take?

Usually back to you within a week. If parts have to come in (some of the European brands), we'll let you know.

How do I book?

Easiest is the online booking on this page. Pick a slot, leave your address, done. Or ring us on (08) 9444 1284.
