What a pressure cleaner service actually involves
Pressure cleaners cop a hammering. Pumps, hoses, fittings, engines, motors, all working under high pressure for hours at a time. Most jobs that come in are one of these:
Pump service & repair
The pump is the heart of the unit. We strip it, check for wear, replace what needs replacing, and pressure test before it leaves the bench.
Loss of pressure
If your cleaner is pulsing, surging, or just not building pressure like it used to, we'll find the cause and sort it.
Leaks & drips
Water leaking from the pump, the gun, the hose connections, or the lance. Usually a worn seal or fitting. Quick fix once we've got it on the bench.
Routine servicing
Pressure cleaners need regular maintenance to keep running properly. Most people skip it. We'll bring yours back up to spec.
Hose, lance & gun repair
The bits you handle take the most punishment. Leaking guns, damaged lances, split hoses. Genuine replacements where needed.
Engine & motor service
Petrol engine won't start? Electric motor cutting out? We service the engine end, not just the pump.
A note for Thornlie pressure cleaner owners
Thornlie is a mix of established residential, beachfront blocks, and trades running out of home workshops. Plenty of cleaners and detailers along the coast, plus the usual run of homeowners with their once-a-month patio blast.
Salt air is the recurring issue down here. The brass fittings on most pressure cleaners corrode from the outside in if you don't rinse the unit with fresh water after a coastal job. We see Thornlie pumps with seized swivel fittings and locked-up trigger guns more than anywhere else in the south.
Brands we service
Karcher · Gerni · Stihl · Bar · Honda · Generac · Bosch · Ryobi · AR Blue Clean
If it's a pressure cleaner and it's broken, we can have a look. Petrol or electric, residential or commercial, doesn't matter where you bought it.
Read the warranty before you buy
Warranties on pressure cleaners look impressive in marketing. The fine print often excludes the things that actually fail. Read it before you commit.
"3 year warranty!" sounds great. Then you read the fine print and discover that the pump is covered for 1 year, not 3. The hose is covered for 6 months. Wear items aren't covered at all. The actual coverage is much narrower than the headline number suggests.
What to look for in a warranty:
- Length on the major components. Pump and engine separately, in years.
- What's specifically excluded. Wear items list, damage from operator error, commercial use restrictions.
- Service requirements to maintain warranty. Some require regular workshop service to honour the warranty.
- Process for claims. Local repair vs send-away. Send-away means weeks without your unit.
- Australian Consumer Law backstop. ACL provides protection beyond the manufacturer warranty for major faults. Worth knowing.
Warranty quality by category (rough generalisations):
- Karcher: Solid warranties, often 2 years on major components for residential. Local service network.
- Stihl: 2 to 5 years depending on model. Strong dealer network. Warranty typically requires registration.
- Husqvarna: 2 years residential, 1 year commercial. Good support.
- Bosch: 2 years standard, sometimes extended on registration.
- Ryobi (One+): 2 years on tool, 1 year on battery. Reasonable but expect Australian Consumer Law to be your main protection.
- Bunnings store brands (Ozito, etc): Usually 1 to 3 years but check fine print. Bunnings will exchange faulty units within reasonable time, which often beats actual warranty claim process.
- Online-only brands: Warranty claims often involve sending the unit back to the manufacturer (sometimes overseas). Slow process. Australian Consumer Law applies but enforcement is harder.
Things warranties typically don't cover:
- Damage from running with insufficient water flow (cavitation damage).
- Damage from hot water in cold-water units.
- Damage from incorrect chemicals.
- Damage from freezing temperatures.
- Wear items: seals, O-rings, nozzles, hoses past a certain period.
- Damage during transport.
- Commercial use of residential-grade units.
The Australian Consumer Law point matters. Even with no manufacturer warranty, you have rights under ACL for major faults that affect the unit's intended use. Keep receipts and document failures, ACL claims are real and enforceable.
Honest take: warranties are nice but they're not the main reason to choose a brand. Build quality and reputation matter more. A well-built unit shouldn't need warranty service. A poorly-built unit's warranty hassle isn't worth the lower purchase price.

Common questions
Do you pick up from Thornlie?
Yep. Pickup and delivery available across Thornlie. We've been running services through this part of Perth for years.
How much does a pressure cleaner repair cost?
Depends on what's wrong and what brand you've got. Once we've stripped it on the bench, we ring you with a fixed price before doing any work. No hourly charging, no surprises.
My pressure cleaner won't build pressure. Worth fixing?
Almost always yes. Most "no pressure" jobs are unloader valves, worn pump seals, or blocked nozzles. None of those are expensive fixes on a decent unit. We'll have a look and tell you straight if it's not worth it.
How often should I service my pressure cleaner?
Annual oil change at minimum on the pump end. Tradies running them daily should service the pump every 6 months. Most homeowners never service theirs, which is why pumps fail at 5 years instead of 15.
Do you service electric pressure cleaners and commercial units?
Both. Karcher K-series and Bosch electrics, all the way up to Gerni and Stihl commercial petrol units. The pump end is similar across most of them, just different sizes and pressures.
How long does a repair take?
Usually back to you within a week. If parts have to come in (some of the European brands), we'll let you know.
How do I book?
Easiest is the online booking on this page. Pick a slot, leave your address, done. Or ring us on (08) 9444 1284.
