What a pressure cleaner service actually involves
Pressure cleaners cop a hammering. Pumps, hoses, fittings, engines, motors, all working under high pressure for hours at a time. Most jobs that come in are one of these:
Pump service & repair
The pump is the heart of the unit. We strip it, check for wear, replace what needs replacing, and pressure test before it leaves the bench.
Loss of pressure
If your cleaner is pulsing, surging, or just not building pressure like it used to, we'll find the cause and sort it.
Leaks & drips
Water leaking from the pump, the gun, the hose connections, or the lance. Usually a worn seal or fitting. Quick fix once we've got it on the bench.
Routine servicing
Pressure cleaners need regular maintenance to keep running properly. Most people skip it. We'll bring yours back up to spec.
Hose, lance & gun repair
The bits you handle take the most punishment. Leaking guns, damaged lances, split hoses. Genuine replacements where needed.
Engine & motor service
Petrol engine won't start? Electric motor cutting out? We service the engine end, not just the pump.
A note for Wellard pressure cleaner owners
Wellard is a mix of established residential, beachfront blocks, and trades running out of home workshops. Plenty of cleaners and detailers along the coast, plus the usual run of homeowners with their once-a-month patio blast.
Salt air is the recurring issue down here. The brass fittings on most pressure cleaners corrode from the outside in if you don't rinse the unit with fresh water after a coastal job. We see Wellard pumps with seized swivel fittings and locked-up trigger guns more than anywhere else in the south.
Brands we service
Karcher · Gerni · Stihl · Bar · Honda · Generac · Bosch · Ryobi · AR Blue Clean
If it's a pressure cleaner and it's broken, we can have a look. Petrol or electric, residential or commercial, doesn't matter where you bought it.
How you wind your hose tells us how long it'll last
High-pressure hoses are the second most expensive part on a pressure cleaner after the pump. Most owners destroy theirs in 18 months. They should last 5 to 10 years.
Pressure cleaner hoses have a steel braid woven inside the rubber. This is what lets them handle 2,000 plus PSI without bursting. But that braid hates being kinked. Every kink stresses the wires. After enough stress, individual wires break. Once enough wires break, the hose blows under pressure with a noise like a gunshot, usually right next to your face.
What kills hoses fastest:
- Wrapping in tight figure-8s. Looks neat. Creates kink points. Forget this technique entirely.
- Storing on hooks smaller than the natural hose curl. If you can see the hose flattening or kinking when hung, the hook is too small.
- Running over the hose with the cleaner's wheels. Crushes the braid. Kills hoses fast.
- Leaving it kinked at the connection while in use. The pressure pulses against the kink point thousands of times per job.
The right way to store a pressure cleaner hose:
- Loose loops, not tight wraps. Each loop should be at least 30cm across, ideally 40cm or more.
- No bends sharper than your fist. If you can see a sharp curve in the hose, it's too tight.
- Hung on a wide hook (a piece of pool noodle slipped over a hook works well as a cushion).
- Or coiled flat on a shelf, not stacked.
Worth knowing: a pressure cleaner hose blowout while you're holding the gun is genuinely dangerous. The pressure spike can knock the gun out of your hand or send the hose end whipping. We don't say this to scare you, just to make the point that hose care is safety care, not just budget care.
Replacement hoses run 60 to 200 dollars depending on length and pressure rating. Look after the one you've got.

Common questions
Do you pick up from Wellard?
Yep. Pickup and delivery available across Wellard. We've been running services through this part of Perth for years.
How much does a pressure cleaner repair cost?
Depends on what's wrong and what brand you've got. Once we've stripped it on the bench, we ring you with a fixed price before doing any work. No hourly charging, no surprises.
My pressure cleaner won't build pressure. Worth fixing?
Almost always yes. Most "no pressure" jobs are unloader valves, worn pump seals, or blocked nozzles. None of those are expensive fixes on a decent unit. We'll have a look and tell you straight if it's not worth it.
How often should I service my pressure cleaner?
Annual oil change at minimum on the pump end. Tradies running them daily should service the pump every 6 months. Most homeowners never service theirs, which is why pumps fail at 5 years instead of 15.
Do you service electric pressure cleaners and commercial units?
Both. Karcher K-series and Bosch electrics, all the way up to Gerni and Stihl commercial petrol units. The pump end is similar across most of them, just different sizes and pressures.
How long does a repair take?
Usually back to you within a week. If parts have to come in (some of the European brands), we'll let you know.
How do I book?
Easiest is the online booking on this page. Pick a slot, leave your address, done. Or ring us on (08) 9444 1284.
